StarCraft 2 angekündigt - Diablo 3 Release früher als angenommen ?
2. September 2008, 8:46 UhrBlizzard wird Diablo 3 erst nach Erscheinen des WoW-AddOns Wrath of the Lich-King und von StarCraft 2 auf den Markt bringen. Davon gehen im Moment die meisten Fans aus, in einem Interview von TVG jedoch mit dem Co-Gründer von Blizzard, Frank Pearce , und PR-Mann Bob Colayco ist zu lesen, dass sie mit dieser Annahme gar nicht so falsch liegen. So sagten sie, dass StarCraft 2 weiter in der Entwicklung als Diablo 3 sei und man daher ein früheres Erscheinen des Strategietitels erwarte.
TVG: A lot of people were rumouring that Diablo III could hit in 2011 or 2012…
Colayco: Personally I hope that it’s sooner.TVG: But StarCraft II would be released before that, wouldn’t it?
Pearce: I wouldn’t assume anything. Certainly, that’s our hope - StarCraft II is ahead of Diablo III in the development cycle.
Nun hat Activision , der neue Partner von Blizzard , während der Activate Asia Pacific Conference , den Release-Zeitraum von StarCraft 2 von „When it’s done“ auf das Jahr 2009 eingegrenzt. Nimmt man also an, dass die Release-Pläne der beiden Blizzard-Hauptgut auch nur ein wenig miteinander verknüpft sind, ist es schon mal schön zu hören, dass für StarCraft 2 keine Pläne mehr für das Jahr 2010 bestehen und das Feld somit für Diablo 3 frei ist. Wenn jetzt noch die Entwickler allesamt in den Blizzard-Gebäuden eingeschlossen werden und rund um die Uhr, ein ganzes Jahr durcharbeiten, sollte einem Release am 02.01.2010 nichts mehr im Wege stehen.
